Now that spring is here, you might be thinking about tackling spring cleaning tasks around your home and yard. One area of your home that you might not have put much thought into is your garage, though. However, this area of your home should be a part of your spring cleaning routine as well. These are a few spring cleaning tasks that you may want to tackle in your garage.

Have Your Garage Door Serviced

First of all, if it's been a while since you have had your garage door serviced, now is the time to have it done. After all, this spring and summer, you may have your kids running in and out of the garage, and you might find yourself working in and around the garage and yard more when the weather is nice. Therefore, it's important to make sure that your garage door works well and is safe. A garage door repair professional can help with this.

Get Rid of Things You Don't Need

Now is a good time to clear out the clutter in your garage. Old paint cans, chemical cans that are empty and other similar items should be disposed of in a safe and legal fashion. Trash should be thrown away, and old tools, sporting equipment or other items that you and your family don't use can be sold, donated or given away to friends. Getting rid of clutter can provide you with more space for projects that you might tackle in your garage and can give your garage a much neater, nicer and more attractive look. Plus, a garage that doesn't have a ton of clutter is also safer, since you don't have to worry as much about you or anyone else tripping and getting hurt.

Service Your Lawn Care Equipment

Now that the weather is warming up, you are probably going to be using your lawn care equipment a lot more. Make sure that it's properly serviced, both by cleaning it and by providing any basic maintenance, such as changing the oil. Then, it will be ready for use.

Clean it Up

Lastly, take the time to clean up your garage. Sweep up dust, dirt, leaves, and any debris that might be on the floor, and dust off any shelves. You can even pressure wash your garage floor to help get rid of dirt and stains so that it looks nice and neat again.
